A Women casting her ballot in an Electronic Voting Machine."Matdaan” (Voting) process has been started and the Campaign for the General Election has begun in across the country. In India, there are seven national level political parties in which Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) having the maximum number of majority in India’s lower house of the Parliament “Lok Sabha”. We don’t know, either the single political party will be elected with the maximum number of majority and to get the chance to form Government or, different state-level parties join hand with the Congress or BJP to form the coalition government but as a citizen, we want security, stability and growth for ourself and for our country. The domestic Economy and the homeland security are the two important factors in this election. Nowadays, the young population of the country has been indulged in to the elections like never before, to make a decisive decision to hand over the country’s command to the responsible hands. Since last two decades, the Indian Economy has achieved a lot and currently lying on a very vital stage. That is why, the developed economies seeing India as a global power over next few years and to achieve this hallucination, everyone including me and you are very concerned about the upshot of the ongoing Elections. According to the given below stats, we might see the jump of 19.6% in the voter turnout percentage this year because, urban population in particular are worried with regards to the security and the economy and will be seen on the Polling Booth. Historically, half of the urban population remains abstain from the elections and the rural voters accounted for the maximum part of the total voter turnout ratio. Perhaps, the voter turnout percentage could even exceed our estimates.

What’s Lok Sabha is all about?

Lok Sabha is the lower house of the Parliament of India and composed of representatives of people, which are directly chosen by the suffrage (18 years and above are recognize as Adults in India) by the election process like this one and the constitution limits the Lok Sabha to only 552 members. At the moment, 14 Lok Sabha has been elected by the People of India and going to expire on 1st Jun, 2009. Now we’re going to form 15th Lok Sabha between April and May 2009.

The Impact of Polls on an Individual!

We vote the Political Party to become supremacy for our safety, growth, prosperity, opportunities, stability, and of course diplomacy. Do you think that all these factors are really matters to all of us? Well, these things perhaps absolutely broader in nature and it depends on person to person. Today, urban India is very concerned about their job security and life security as the Economic Crisis and Terrorism made havoc in their life. In this particular situation, people must be in a quandary, when the voting decision comes to their mind.

Consequently, this election would be dramatic one and even there are lot of anticipation from the political analyst, that no one will be able to get the majority to form the Government. Then what we can expect if it does happen, I have no idea! But I’m sure, this election might be entertaining too and actually we’re experiencing many incidents, which have never happened before and I think after the Indian Premier League (IPL), it will be in best demand and would attract lot of viewers towards Media to get coverage.

India & Pakistan: The Tough Foe

Pakistan, a major and challenging task to handle for the next Indian Government. According to the United Progressive Alliance’s (UPA, the ruling Indian Coalition Government) perspective, Pakistan seemingly has not done enough to tackle terrorism from its land and Taliban indeed making headway towards the Islamabad, the Pakistani Capital - which indeed is now growing as a major concern for India due to closest neighborhood. Indeed, its not only a danger for Pakistan alone, however it is the biggest threat to the entire world. Nevertheless, Pakistan is facing enormous threat from Taliban and trying to get aid from the donor countries to get substantial amount of resources to fight Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Does India have a responsibility to help Pakistan to come out of this crisis without considering the last year terror attacks in Mumbai? From VMW’s perspective, the new government should have to work to reframe its foreign policy in which it needs to help Pakistan to tackle terrorism problem from its soil rather than deploying troops on the border side and even inside Pakistan if necessary, so that India can enjoy the stability as far as the cross-border security is concerned and even could gain control over the infiltration from India’s border with Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Post Elections, how India’s relation with Pakistan takes shape? That’s the question, which actually comes into everybody’s mind after the recent terror attacks in Mumbai. In the wake of Mumbai Attacks in Nov last year, (Indian Media uses 26/11 to mention that terror attack), the Indian citizens do not want to have a firm relation with Pakistan. However on the other side, Indian Authorities always tried to stay away from any conflict with its neighbor; that is the reason, India has made several attempts in the last six decades to make stable relations. Now the picture is absolutely clear like a crystal in front of the international community. Possibly, India will urge the International Community to allow its forces to enter the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) region to knock down the active terrorist’s training camps.

The final conclusion is, we want a stronger government - who can protect its citizen against any kind of peril - no matter how do they deal with the situation. People have no fault to a certain extent, they pay taxes to get something in return from their government. Let see, who is going to get a power from the “People of India”.

*Poll expenditure only includes the expenses incurred or to be incurred by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and this is just an estimation by the ECI.
**Number of Electorates was estimated by the Election Commission of India.
^Number of Poll stations would take a jump of over 25% due to rise in number of electorates and higher percentage of voter turnout. Number of Poll Stations, Number of EVMs and Voter Turnout Percentage was estimated the by VMW.
